These materials are a collection of letters, papers, and other memorabilia from the nineteenth and early twentieth century in Great Britain. Many of the items are letters by prominent individuals and vary considerably in content from personal matters to politics and affairs of state. Among the most significant writers of these materials are: George V, King of Great Britain, 1865-1936 (13 items--some are photocopies--on diplomacy, politics, and personal matters), Victoria, Queen of Great Britain, 1819-1901 (5 items), Charles Dickens, 1812-1870 (4 items), Charles George Gordon, 1833-1885 (4 items), Benjamin Disraeli, 1804-1881 (2 items), Rudyard Kipling, 1865-1936 (2 items), and Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington, 1769-1852 (2 items). The largest single part of the collection are 206 items relating to the "Brontë Society." They are correspondence from a number of individuals to the various secretaries of the society.
